Celebrate Community

LNC provides opportunities throughout the year to donate your time, talent, or goods like school supplies throughout the year. We love how generous this community is and we want to continue with this tradition. 
 
Service Events
 
Volunteer opportunities are set up by our Outreach Committee and all LNC members are welcome to attend (several events are kid-friendly). Some examples of past volunteer events include:

• Reading stories and doing arts and crafts with residents of the Sarah Neuman Nursing Home
• Cleaning around the Sheldrake Environmental Center
• Serving hot meals to clients of Hope Community Soup Kitchen
• Folding and sorting clothes at the Sharing Shelf
• Arranging furniture at Furniture Sharehouse’s furniture bank

 

Drives

In addition to community service events, the Outreach Committee holds several drives over the course of the year. Past examples include:
 
Back to School Drive
 
Help our region’s children in need start the school year off right! Donate backpacks, folders, notebooks and binders. These crucial items will be distributed to local 1st through 5th graders affiliated with HOPE Community Services.
 
LNC “Off the Hook!” Coat Drive
 
How many coats hang in your closet and go unworn? Let’s get those gently-used extra jackets (and hats/mittens/scarves) off the hook and into the hands of children, women, and men who would otherwise endure a winter without warmth.
 
Holiday Toy Drive
 
The Holiday Toy Drives provide toys and holiday cheer to children of families in need. Your generous gifts will put smiles on many faces from local organizations such as HOPE Community Services, Mamaroneck Child Development Center, and/or the New Rochelle Community Action Program.
 
The New Teen Boutique Collection
 
Have a pair of gently worn of sandals that are not going to make it into next summer’s rotation? Or perhaps you have a few skirts that would look better on a 15-year-old than a 35-year-old? Donate them to the NEW Teen Boutique, formerly Girl Topia!
